Douglas Meredith was convicted today in Albemarle County Circuit Court of one count of assisting to a commercial sex trafficking operation.
The official charge on the court website is 18.2-357.1, sex traffic by force which is a class 5 felony and punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Judge Catherine C. Hammond, whose name local news organizations didn’t publish, was the presiding judge and gave him the maximum amount of 10 years but suspended all but two years.
After further research into this matter, Meredith was already on felony probation in Chesapeake, Virginia for an array of charges from 2015 including credit card theft, statutory burglary, reckless disregard for child, and A&B on family. None of those charges netted him any jail time initially but he has 16 years of suspended time which he has now been violated on.
